I think that Tita was to hurt and scared and to talk. She was unaware of her surroundings and she was scared Mama Elena would come get her. I also think she didn't trust John yet. She wasn't sure if he was going to send her to a asylum or not. I think she was just to scared to talk.
I think Tita was scard to show her feeling because she did not want to get hurt like she did when she showed she was sad when baby Roberto died. she did not know how John would react if she talked or showed any feelings.
