Yes, i think it did. That box had to do with how she treated her daughters because she may have been taking her anger and sadness out on them. She aslo was not very kind to Gertuedis be cause she was the product of her affair. The box of love letters made Tita have a change of heart so i think it made her understand the way her mother acted towards her and her sisters
