I think Laura Esquivel used the title symbolically. I think she used it to say that something so complicated can have something so simple in it. I think she also used it as a contrast because when you think of chocolate, you think of something rich with a lot of flavor, but when you think of water it's bland. I think the recipe also had something to do with it because when the recipe for how to make chocolate was put in the book, I was a "rich" and great time for Tita, symbolic for the great and rich chocolate she was making.
